The Temple women’s basketball team fell to No. 6 Arizona State, 61-54, tonight in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at the Comcast Center in College Park, Md.

Temple loses in first round of NCAA tournament

The men’s basketball team just lost to Michigan State in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Playing in Denver, Colo., Temple, the No. 12 seed, lost to Michigan State, the No. 5 seed, 72-61.

Temple recieved a No. 12 seed in the South region and will take on No. 5 Michigan State in the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo. in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

Video proof that the men’s basketball team is dancing

Wait, do you want shaky, low quality, video-proof that the Owls beat their rival St. Joseph’s Hawks in the Atlantic 10 championship game Saturday night to earn an automatic bid in the NCAA tournament.

Well here it is, in from a reader of The Temple News.

The Owls earned a No. 12 seed, which has them playing the Michigan State Spartans in Denver, Colo. on Thursday.

Oh, and don’t forget about Dawn Staley and the women’s basketball team. Join them tomorrow at 6 p.m. in the Draught Horse to see if and where they will get a bid to their own NCAA tourney.

Selection Sunday: Men to face Michigan State in Denver

The men’s basketball team drew a 12 seed in the South Region during the NCAA’s Selection Sunday — setting them up for a first round matchup with the #5 Spartans of Michigan State in Denver, Colo., on Thursday.

The Spartans fell to the eventual Big Ten champion Wisconsin Badgers in last week’s conference semifinals.

Other area notables: the St. Joseph’s Hawks, who fell to Temple in Saturday’s A-10 championship, drew a number 11 seed in the Eastern Region, and the Villanova Wildcats will play from the 12 seed in the Midwest region.
