Man faces up to 97 years for Anderson assault

18-year-old Steven Holmes pleaded guilty yesterday to assaulting a Temple graduate student in October.

Philly.com is reporting that Holmes is schizophrenic and does not remember the assault but accepts responsibility. He has also written a letter of apology to the 22-year-old victim.

Sentencing will be on Aug. 22. Holmes faces up to 97 years in prison for escaping a youth detention facility, the Anderson Hall assault and threatening a witness involved with the case.

The incident prompted Temple to use its emergency alert system for the first time.
