The Liacouras Center at Temple University yesterday was packed with thousands of men who have accepted the call to restore peace to violent Philadelphia communities. The “10,000 Men: A Call to Action” campaign planned to organize and unite black men to help proactively deter illegal activity on the streets.

For your viewing pleasure, here are some photos from the event. Photos by Neal Santos.

Kind of a late notice, but at around 4:30pm Republican Mayoral Candidate Al Taubenberger is answering your questions at Temple’s Center City Campus.

But you don’t have to spend money on a subway token. Lucky for you, this new fangled Internet thing lets Taubenberger answer questions submitted online. To have your question answered, head on over to YEP’s site and submit via the chat room that has been set up and be sure to watch the video feed.

Take a few steps beyond Broad and Cecil B. Moore. In the midst of Temple’s aggressive expansion which stretches far into the surrounding North Philadelphia community lies an often overlooked yet enduring fixture. It serves both people of the community and students well: The Mecca Barber & Beauty Salon.

Here’s a small glimpse into the world that’s usually on (sometimes in) your way to the IBC, Dunkin Donuts, City View, or any of those other fancy shops at Avenue North.
