For those of you on Twitter instead of studying for finals, there’s one less person you’ll find in the Twitter-sphere: Al Golden. After an announcement that Temple’s head coach has accepted a deal to become the head coach of the University of Miami’s football team, it seems @TUCoachAlGolden no longer exists (Don’t believe us? http://twitter/tucoachalgolden). In other news: @BillCosby is only following five people on Twitter now.

AP, Inquirer report Tom Corbett is next Pa. governor
The Associated Press and Philadelphia Inquirer declared Republican Tom Corbett the winner of the Pennsylvania gubernatorial race. With 82 percent of the precincts reporting, Corbett is in the lead with 53 percent of the vote versus his opponent Democrat Dan Onorato’s 47 percent.
Corbett, currently the state attorney general, will follow eight years of Democratic leadership by Gov. Ed Rendell, who will finish his two terms as governor in January. Prior to Rendell, Republicans Tom Ridge and Mark Schweiker held the Pa., governor’s seat from 1995 to 2001 and 2001 to 2003, respectively.

Jimmy John’s delivery person on a bike… and in a union?
The New York Times reported this morning that Jimmy John’s employees in Minneapolis are working toward unionizing, citing unreliable work hours, income and poor treatment by management.
And though the possible unionization pertains to only one franchise in Minnesota (there are 1,000 Jimmy John’s stores nationwide), the biking college student who brings fresh sandwiches to your door is everywhere.
“A union in fast food is an idea whose time has come,” University of Minnesota social work student Emily Przybylski told the New York Times. “There are millions of workers in this industry living in poverty, with no consistent scheduling, no job security and no respect. It’s time for change.”
So what do you think, Temple-area Jimmy John’s workers? Is your work shirt slogan “workers unite” or “Attention sandwich-buyers: Give better tips”?
