A 33-year-old woman not affiliated with Temple University was attacked by another woman wielding a screwdriver on Thursday afternoon at around 4:10 p.m. on the 3300 block of N. 13th St. by the Health Sciences Campus.
Executive Director of Campus Safety Services Charlie Leone said the attacker used the screwdriver to cut the victim on the right cheek. The victim was treated for a small laceration at Temple University Hospital and was later released, he added.
The victim identified the attacker as a drug user from the area, Leone said. As she was leaving her rooming house on the 1200 block of Rising Sun Ave., the victim got into an altercation with the attacker, he added.
The attacker then fled south on N. 13th St. after cutting the victim with the screwdriver, Leone said. A TU Alert was sent out about the incident around 4:30 p.m.
The suspect was last seen wearing a blue shirt, black tights, and a black sweater tied around her waist, Leone said. He added that there will be increased patrols in the area looking for the alleged attacker.
