On Nov. 12, students from Temple for a DREAM held a rally to promote the proposed DREAM Act. The act the group is encouraging for approval would allow students who were brought to the United States as children to have an opportunity at citizenship, to receive student loans and to enlist in the U.S. military.
With signs plastered over the Bell Tower, Jessica Arce, a sophomore film and urban studies major, said the group has put a lot of its faith in Senator Harry Reid, who has promised to bring the DREAM Act to a vote during the Lame-Duck Session.
Temple for a DREAM consists of documented and undocumented students who aim to raise awareness of immigration issues within Temple’s and Philadelphia’s community.
Should students who immigrated to America as children be allowed the rights Temple for a DREAM advocates?
