Is SAT on its way out?

A small but growing number of colleges and universities are dropping the SAT requirement as part of their applications.

Smith College and Wake Forest University are two of the schools that are no longing asking for SAT and ACT scores from hopeful high schoolers.

In a recent New York Times article, Martha Allman, the director of admissions at Wake, said the school is losing the SAT to attract a more diverse applicant pool and serve underrepresented students.

The move away from standardized testing is putting the focus on extracurriculars, writing skills and individual student character.
