About a month ago, 6,000 men gathered in the Liacouras Center as part of Police Commissioner Sylvester Johnson’s plan to put 10,000 men on the streets as volunteer patrol men. According the 6abc.com, the first batch hit the streets yesterday:
And so, about 100 men, who will be leading the ten thousand men effort citywide, received some training on Tuesday night. They went out on patrol in some of South Philadelphia’s crime-hardened streets.
“It’s a new day, a new day. In a peaceful way, a peaceful way,” the men chanted.
