Gerda Weissman Klein, an 83-year-old Holocaust survivor who won an Academy Award for Best Documentary for her film “One Survivor Remembers,” participated in a multi-university, interactive video conference Tuesday night.
In an exclusive “Online Only” article, Temple News reporter Dan Weisbein writes about how Klein addressed subjects outside of her Holocaust experience, including her thoughts on the modern issues, such as world hunger.
“I don’t want to live in a world where a potato is more valuable than an Oscar. And I don’t want children to be in a world where an Oscar is so important that you forget that there are people who do not have a potato,” Klein said.
