Trashing trash

Hey, remember that time you complained about how Philly is so dirty and then threw your beer can on your neighbor’s lawn two days later while stumbling back home?

Yeah, we know who you are.

Well now’s your chance to redeem yourself. Philly Spring Cleanup day is tomorrow, Sat. April 10. In its third-year run, the city initiative brings together volunteers to spiff up Philadelphia’s blocks. Working as a trash monster combo, Temple’s Students for Environmental Action, Student Peace Alliance, Project EDU, Temple Community Garden and Sociology Undergraduate Majors and Minors Association will be volunteering tomorrow between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and will be meeting at the Bell Tower. If you have any interest, e-mail James at tua50891@temple.edu. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.

Temple Student Government is also encouraging students to volunteer at the Stenton Park Recreation Center (17th and Courtland streets), the Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreation Center (22nd Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue) and the McVeigh Recreation Center, located in Kensington. Visit the Philly Spring Cleanup Web site to sign up for these locations.

Don’t act like you’re not capable of rolling out of bed and walking a few blocks to one of these sites. And, if you’re not busy and still complain about trash, shame on you. Yep, we said it: shame on you!
