The Navy Yard just got tastier.

The Tasty Baking Co., makers of Philadelphia’s most well-known health food, has broken ground on a state-of-the-art baking facility at 26th Street in South Philadelphia… no, not “Hey, let’s totally go to South Street” South Philadelphia, but “wow those stadiums are super north of here” South Philadelphia. Not cheesesteaks South Philadelphia, but my neighbor lives in Wilmington, Del. South Philadelphia. Not Vince Fumo South Philadelphia, but Joe Biden South Philadelphia.

Last May Tastykake announced its plans to leave its facility in Hunting Park for the Naval Yard. Ed Rendell circa 1994 refuses to believe the Naval Yard is greener pastures for anyone, but the convergence of the Schuylkill and the Delaware will be good for those butterscotch krimpets.
